Forensic accounting may seem like a bunch of dollars and cents, but during my many years in the industry, I have come to see just how important the human side of the business is. This increased realization has pushed me to be more thoughtful, personable, fair, and to better see the world from the perspective of others. While I do love pouring over financial records, creating spreadsheets, and getting into the accounting details of a case, the best part of the job for me has always been getting to work with others. It’s not even close. This has included interacting with prosecutors, other law enforcement agents, defense attorneys, judges, victims, witnesses, grand juries, and even with those who didn’t like me. Not only has it been a pleasure, but also the part of my professional life that I am the most proud of.
